When its hot...get wet

One day this past week Scott watched the boys and did a great job. While he watched them I was able to do some serious house cleaning. For those of you that successfully maintain a perfect house I salute you however I am not that talented. So I called in some help. With Scott watching the boys I did spring cleaning in July. But all this is to say that they got out the slip in slide and had a ball. It was a hot day so it was a nice way to spend it.

Campfire and vespers

Part of everyday at camp is vespers and campfire. Vespers is a time of worship and campfire is a time of silly games, songs and skits. Here is closing circle of campfire.

Here is Logan reading a passage of scripture. The campers picked the passages and reading with the help of Pastor Dale.

Campers at play

We are playing do you Do You like your neighbor. Basic premise one person looking for a seat ask someone sitting down Do you like your neighbor. If they do nothing happens and you ask someone else. If they do not "like" the two people on either side they give two other names. The old neighbors and new neighbors and the person looking for a seat all attempt to find a new seat. Also the person ask if he likes his neighbors says he wants a whole new neighborhood everyone but the person ask must get up and find a new seat. Lots of silly fun and a good get to know you game because you need to know people's names. I am leading a very silly song that involves patting, clapping and touching nose and ears. The idea is to get faster and faster.
We have all set on Pastor Dale Thorngate due to a game called Stack 'um. A leader tells people to move a certain number of spaces due to a characteristic like hair color, shoes, # of siblings, etc.

Tressie is trying to get Rayah to smile in a game of if you love me smile.

Silly motions in a game that I missed. Seth and Wayne are good at it.

Camp JOY

I am about to share probably more than you want to know about camp but I have over 100 pictures so I will torture you with some. We had 9 campers 2nd thru 6th grade 3 of which were boys. The Lord put together the perfect staff and a great bunch of kids. Here is Amanda Smith. She was the junior counselor with me but she did a great job. She did devos several nights which included giving her testimony. She had one of the youngest work groups and she got a lot out of them and they gave a great presentation. She becoming a mighty fine woman of God. Here is our fearless cook Miss Julia. She feeding 17 people on her own.

Pastor Dale was awesome he did vespers and the lessons with the kids. I missed the lessons because we split the campers during lesson time and crafts. I heard good things though.
Here is our leader. Chuck did a great job putting together a fun and interesting camp. He had a great plan that he executed well. He was also the owner of the Swhistle(A whistle that you squeezed instead of blew). As Wayne put it...He was funny.

Here is our campers during the presentation for the parents. They learned four songs in 5 days and did little presentation about their Bible lessons.
All in all a very good camp. More pictures and details to follow.

Rainy Day Fun

Rainy days are sometimes hard for me as my boys love the space to run and play. I am grateful for our basement that allows for rough play and inside bike riding. However on this rainy day we got out the legos and proceeded to have great fun building planes, boats, cars, bridges and tunnels. Sometimes it is hard for me to let go of the things that need to be done and just play with my boys. This afternoon we did that and had a great time.

It was good reminder that it is okay to sit and play sometimes. I still need to do dishes and vaccum.
